New FCecon equipment should speed up biopsy results in Amazonas

Manaus (AM) – State deputy Delegate Péricles (PL) allocated funds to the Cecon Foundation (FCecon) for the acquisition of Manual Microtome devices for the unit’s pathology sector. With the purchase of equipment, it will be possible to increase the analysis of materials, in order to speed up the delivery of biopsies taken at the hospital, which is a reference in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer throughout the Western Amazon.

In total, four Manual Microtome devices were purchased, costing R$ 182 thousand. The purchases are part of a parliamentary amendment by Deputy Delegate Péricles, worth R$800,000, to help improve various sectors of FCecon. The equipment was delivered on Friday morning (29), at the FCecon headquarters, in the Center-West area of ​​Manaus.

On the occasion, the deputy highlighted the importance of the sector in diagnosing cancer. “This equipment will help in the analysis of pathologies, further reducing the time to deliver results, which previously took months and even years to come out, and now FCecon has managed to significantly reduce these deadlines, reaching an average of three months and some with results of up to 30 days. This equipment purchased with our amendments will further reduce the deadline for results and could save many lives”, said the deputy, congratulating the sector’s employees for their commitment.

Department of Pathology

During the delivery, pathologist Maykon Ramos, who is part of the FCecon pathology department team, explained that the sector is responsible for identifying surgical pieces from patients in the unit with all types of cancer, analyzing the level at which the disease it is.

“This information is essential and indispensable for our surgeons and oncologists to properly treat patients. So, with the help of deputy Péricles, we are obtaining four more pieces of equipment that are essential for our activity, improving more and more and aiming to serve our patients with quality”, declared Ramos, highlighting that the department is coordinated by doctor Emely Franco.

FCecon’s CEO, doctor Gerson Mourão, also thanked the deputy for his attention to FCecon. “I want to thank you for your attention to the department, because their work is essential for diagnosing the disease,” said Mourão.
