National Justice Department launches land program – 04/25/2023 – Panel

The national justice inspector, Minister Luis Felipe Salomão, is going to launch, on Wednesday (25), the Permanent Land Regularization Program, in Belém (PA).
The objective is to coordinate and accelerate measures related to the subject in urban and rural areas, identify public areas and those destined for environmental protection.
In addition, there will be a Land Regularization Week, in August, organized by the internal affairs department.
The program will operate in all states of the Legal Amazon: Pará, Acre, Amazonas, Roraima, Rondônia, Mato Grosso, Amapá, Tocantins and Maranhão.
The area corresponds to more than half of the conflicts in the countryside registered in the first half of last year, according to the report Conflitos no Campo 2002, by the Pastoral Land Commission.
The document also pointed to an increase compared to the first half of 2021, of 33% in total occurrences, which represents 425 conflicts, involving 66 thousand families.
The Jair Bolsonaro (PL) government left an increase in violence in the countryside, especially in the Amazon, according to the report, released on the 18th.
Between 2019 and 2022, 3,462 incidents of conflict over land were registered in the region, an increase of 29.8% compared to the previous four years.
