The President of the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), intends to include the “fake news” Bill in the plenary voting agenda later this week, with the expectation of voting on the urgency request this Tuesday (25) or on Wednesday (26).

The text of the project will be presented this Tuesday (25) by the rapporteur Orlando Silva (PCdoB-SP) to the party leaders, to be analyzed in the sequence. According to the president, it is necessary to “have a limit” to guarantee freedom of expression and that “each one bears the consequences of what he says on the networks”.

In addition to the “fake news” Bill, Lira said that she also intends to create this week the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI) to investigate the actions of the Landless Rural Workers Movement (MST). The request has already been presented by Deputy Lieutenant Colonel Zucco (Republicans-RS) to investigate the invasions of properties carried out after the inauguration of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).

Since the beginning of the year, at least 32 areas have been invaded by the movement, the last three properties in the state of Bahia.

According to the Chamber, there are still three other requests for the creation of CPIs under analysis: to investigate the manipulation of results in soccer matches; about billionaire inconsistencies in the balance sheet of Lojas Americanas; and the one that intends to investigate fraudulent operations with cryptocurrencies.
