Member of the national leadership of the MST (Movement of Landless Rural Workers), Gilmar Mauro said this Thursday (11) that he sees an “interesting political line” in the Tarcísio de Freitas government (Republicans) and in the management of Ricardo Nunes (MDB).
“I think there is an interesting political line here in the state government and in the City Hall of São Paulo, good talks”, said Gilmar Mauro to the press on the first day of the 4th National Agrarian Reform Fair, in the Água Branca park, west of São Paulo. capital of São Paulo.
After João Doria forbade the fair to take place there, Tarcísio authorized the event again.
“Although Tarcísio has an identity with Bolsonarism, he was elected because of that, he is governor, as he is elected, of the whole society, just like President Lula”, he added.
Gilmar also said that Tarcísio and Nunes will be well received if they attend the fair.
With regard to President Lula (PT), Gilmar stated that the MST “is independent and has autonomy”, despite having helped to elect the PT.
In the press interview, Gilmar defended the land occupations and said that the production of food exhibited at the fair was only possible “because we previously occupied land in the past”. “Agrarian reform is occupation and will continue to be”, he added.
Ceres Hadich, also a member of the MST board, stated that agrarian reform is the way to end hunger in the country.
The leaders minimized the CPI that targets the MST in the Chamber of Deputies, stating that its objective is only to wear down the federal government.
“It’s an attempt to get us into the corner of the ring, but we’re going to keep organizing,” Hadich said.
In the opinion of the leaders, the fair, which runs until Sunday (14), is also an instrument of pressure for agrarian reform and a way of demonstrating the population’s support for the movement.
