The Labor Public Prosecutor’s Office (MPT) accepted the complaint made by Councilwoman Luana Alves (PSOL) and will investigate whether there are acts that constitute racism practiced by eight social organizations hired by the City of São Paulo to manage hospitals in the city.

Until this Tuesday (18), the MPT notified at least two of the eight organizations mentioned by the councilwoman. The municipality has 12 organizations that provide health services.

Luana says that she collected statements from 1,090 professionals through an electronic form and concluded that, during the process of hiring nurses, there are “discriminatory, racist, homophobic, fat-phobic, ageism practices.”

The survey on racism and discrimination was carried out by Anen (National Articulation of Black Nursing) and Coren-São Paulo (Regional Council of Nursing).

In a note to the Panel, the management of Mayor Ricardo Nunes (MDB) says that it repudiates all forms of discrimination and that it was not notified by the MPT, but will provide clarification if it is triggered.

“It should be noted that hiring in units managed by Social Health Organizations is done directly by the entities themselves, as provided for in the contract”, says the city hall.
