The prosecutor in the case stated that the advertisement considers offensive content

Manaus (AM) – The Public Ministry of Amazonas (MPAM) determined to the CEO of Amazonas Energia, Marcio Pereira Zimmermann, a period of 24 hours for the withdrawal of advertising about the installation of the Centralized Measurement System (SMC), known as aerial meters, from all communication vehicles. The prosecutor in the case, Sheyla Andrade dos Santos, stated that the advertisement constitutes offensive content.

The decision was published in the Official Gazette of the MP-AM, last Friday (2nd), with a deadline of 48 hours for the company to comment on the matter. The body provides for the adoption of appropriate administrative measures and legal actions against the person responsible in case of non-compliance. In a statement to In timecouncilor Roberto Sabino (Podemos) stated that he understands the decision as a first step towards the annulment of aerial gauges.

“It is a long process, but not impossible to conquer. If we continue with the people’s protests together with the political power, we can indeed change this situation and put an end to this action of the Amazonas da Energia meters. I reaffirm that I am completely against the meters and their lack of transparency towards the population, ”he said.

The advertising piece was released by the company with the purpose of clarifying how the devices would work and supposed benefits. Councilman Allan Campelo (PSC) alleged that the company’s commercial really has a very offensive content, for accusing consumers who are against installing the meters.

“The commercial actually has a very offensive content, as it accuse consumers who are against the installation of meters of being in favor of crime. So, the Ministry was very assertive in removing this advertisement from the air”,

declared.

The mayor of Manaus, David Almeida, sanctioned on March 31, the Law Project (PL), which prohibited the installation of aerial meters, in the City Council of Manaus (CMM). However, at the end of last month, Judge Ricardo Sales, from the 3rd branch of Federal Justice, prohibited the Executive from applying any measure, such as fines, against the installation of equipment by the company.

The decision intensified the opinion of councilors against Amazonas Energia, who support popular mobilization against aerial meters. Parliamentarians and residents stated that the meters have difficulty in verifying the control of electricity consumption and also the visual pollution by the wires of the devices.
