MP-SP is triggered against Tarcísio’s secretary trip – 05/10/2023 – Mônica Bergamo

The Bancada Feminista, PSOL’s collective mandate in the Legislative Assembly of São Paulo, called the Public Prosecutor’s Office of SP (MP-SP) asking for the opening of an investigation into the trip of the state secretary of Policies for Women of SP, Sonaira Fernandes, to a religious event in Geneva, Switzerland.

The Tarcísio de Freitas government (Republicans) will spend BRL 135,900 on the trip, as shown by the Panel. In addition to her, says the São Paulo management, two assistants also traveled.

From last Saturday (6th) until this Wednesday (10th), Sonaira participates in the “Uniting our Nations and Reconciling”, of the Parliament and Faith ministry, founded in 2009 by Argentine pastor Luciano Bongarrá.

The objective, as described by the pastor himself in interviews, is to take “the message of the Lord” to those in positions of authority.

“Considering, therefore, the functions and public duties of Secretary Sonaira, the secular nature of the State and the administrative morality, this representation is necessary, requiring that the narrated facts be investigated”, states the document sent by the PSOL parliamentarians, which still describe the spending as “immoral”.

According to the decree that authorized her removal, published in the state Official Gazette on May 3, the secretary will make the trip without prejudice to her salaries and other advantages of her position —that is, without salary deduction.

In a note, the press office of the Secretariat for Policies for Women told the Panel that Sonaira will be one of the speakers on the panel on human rights at the conference and that “she will present the public policies of the state for the prevention and fight against domestic violence, the women’s health and female entrepreneurship.”

“The event is a public policy forum and brings together leaders from different countries to discuss solutions and exchange experiences on public management, in line with the objectives agreed within the framework of the United Nations.”

Evangelical, Sonaira is close to federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP), with whom she worked, and her political activities are aligned with the values ​​of Bolsonarism. On social media, she has already written that “feminism kills more than wars and diseases” and is “the great genocide of our time”.

In recent years, as councilwoman of the capital of São Paulo, she presented projects to prohibit racial quotas in public and private institutions in the city of São Paulo and for biological sex to be the only criterion for the participation of athletes in competitions in the municipality, thus excluding transgender sports competitions.
