The salary of BRL 41,000 paid to former president Jair Bolsonaro by the PL came into the sights of prosecutor Lucas Furtado, from the Public Ministry at the Federal Court of Auditors (TCU). He asked the Court to investigate alleged irregularities in the payment made since March of this year, alleging that the remuneration “directly and mortally” violates the “principle of administrative morality”.
“It is possible to verify that the structure of a political party is being used to remunerate a person who has been declared ineligible by the highest instance of electoral justice,” according to the report. g1.
Furtado asks the TCU to “investigate irregularities in the remuneration granted by the Liberal Party (PL) to former President of the Republic Jair Bolsonaro” and that “if there is an understanding of the plenary or the rapporteur, the payments are suspended”.
Bolsonaro was made “honorary president of the party” shortly after returning from the United States, in March, with a salary equal to that of a minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF).
The PL and the former president did not comment on the investigation request.
