The family of Guilherme Gandra Moura, 9, Vasco fan mascot, was robbed on Wednesday night (6) as they left São Januário after the 2-1 victory against Bragantino.
“They put a gun in our house, they didn’t respect Gui in the car,” said Tayane Gandra, the child fan’s mother. According to her, the thieves took watches, cell phones and a wedding ring. “A lot of psychological horror,” she added.
Earlier, the mother had shared a video of the child arriving at the stadium, amid shouts of encouragement from fans who recognized Gui, as he is called. In the afternoon, he cut his hair and wore the Vasco uniform when preparing for the match.
The boy has a rare disease, dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa, and became famous because of his emotional reunion with his mother when he woke up from sedation after 16 days of coma due to pneumonia, in June this year.
Still in the hospital, Gui received visits from Vasco players and Rodrigo Dinamite, son of idol Roberto Dinamite. After that, he maintained contact with the club and became a mascot for players and fans.
At the beginning of November, the boy met President Lula (PT) during a trip to Brasília and the two talked about Vasco.
“I’m a Corinthian fan in São Paulo and a Vasco fan in Rio. You have to be a Corinthian fan in São Paulo”, joked the PT member.
Epidermolysis bullosa, Gui’s disease, is characterized by changes in the protein responsible for connecting the layers of the skin, which causes blisters and wounds that can be serious. Patients like Guilherme are more sensitive to injuries on the surface and also on internal parts, such as the airways and mucous membranes.
