The CCJ (Constitution and Justice Commission) of the Senate approved this Wednesday (10) the bill by Senator Sergio Moro (União Brasil-PR) that provides for a prison sentence for anyone who plans to attack or threaten authorities who fight crime. organized.

Moro presented the bill after the PF (Federal Police) launched an operation to dismantle a plan by the PCC criminal faction against him, his wife, deputy Rosângela Moro (Podemos-SP), and other authorities, such as prosecutor Lincoln Gakiya, who investigate the group.

The main point of the text is the possibility of punishing criminals based on the elaboration of a plan of action – and not just the execution of the attack. After the approval of the project, Moro said that only “structured” planning will be a reason for punishment.

“It’s not planning on a napkin. But as it was in my case: there was footage of my house, there was rent of places where they wanted to carry out the kidnapping, there was a whole structured plan. This has to be punished in itself”, said the senator.

The text also extends personal protection to retired police officers, magistrates and public prosecutors who are under threat of crime. Today, the legislation provides for security measures only for authorities who are on active duty and family members.

Protection was the reason for protests by Senator Omar Aziz (PSD-AM) since the vote in the Public Safety Commission. Aziz has criticized the media stance of judges and prosecutors and said that it is the population who ends up footing the protection bill for the authorities.

“Who is going to pay for this? The good citizen who is being threatened and who has no protection. You get a police officer, either from the Federal Police or the Civil Police, from the Military Police to provide security when these judges leave…”, said Aziz, without finishing the sentence, at last month’s meeting.

“The truth is that, these judges, we shouldn’t even know their names. But people want to go to the media. little I will have to give protection to the police because he arrested the drug dealer”, he added.

Moro came out in defense of the bill after this Wednesday’s session and said that the matter was “faced” with the possibility that protection is guaranteed by the police or judicial bodies to which public agents are linked.

“You can’t say to a judge, for example, who faces organized crime, a prosecutor, or even a police officer who is in a special risk situation: ‘Turn around’. The state has to provide protection. And, see , there will be a risk analysis to verify if there is indeed a need”, he said.

The PL was unanimously approved by the CCJ and goes to the Chamber of Deputies. Moro said that he has already contacted the chairman of the Public Security Commission of the Chamber, Deputy Sanderson (PL-RS), to try to speed up the procedure.
