Moro said that his work in the Federal Senate will have as a motto the improvement of mechanisms for prevention, detection and accountability for acts of corruption, in addition to issues that bring improvements to the whole country. He pointed out that the return of the discussion on the autonomy of the agencies responsible for investigating and combating crime was also important.
“I have very specific agendas that are part of my story. The fight against corruption and integrity in politics are two inseparable issues, as well as public safety”, she declared. The senator added that he also wants to be involved “in all matters that are relevant to Brazilians, including issues of the economy, social policy, health, education, among others.”
Moro promised dialogue with the other senators. “Listening to different opinions and being able to arrive at the best result is essential for everyone,” he said. Elected with almost 2 million votes in Paraná, Sérgio Moro took over the chair that until then had been occupied by Álvaro Dias (PODE). At the ceremony, 27 new elected senators were sworn in, who now join the other 54 who were already in the House.
Along with Moro, lawyer Luis Felipe Cunha assumes the commitment as first alternate, and businessman Ricardo Guerra as second alternate, both affiliated with União Brasil.
