19,756 new daycare spaces will be created
The Ministry of Education published, this Monday (11), a decree in the official diary which releases R$95,226,251.05 for new enrollments in early childhood education classes, in 221 municipalities. The resource from the Fund for Maintenance and Development of Basic Education and Valorization of Education Professionals (Fundeb) is intended for daycare centers and public schools, or non-profit institutions with agreements with the public authorities.
According to the 2022 School Census, there are 74.4 thousand daycare centers across the country, of which 66.4% are public and 33.6% are private. Of these, more than half have an agreement with the public early childhood education network.
According to the Department of Basic Education, the resources will provide 19,756 new places, 6,727 in part-time daycare centers and 4,431 in full-time daycare centers. Another 7,447 places will be allocated to part-time preschool places and 1,151 to full-time places.
The benefiting municipalities are those that registered new vacancies as provided for in Law 12,722/2012, which establishes the rules for financial support from the Union with the aim of expanding the provision of early childhood education. Municipalities in the states of Acre, Alagoas, Amazonas, Bahia, Ceará, Espírito Santo, Goiás, Maranhão, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Pará, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Piauí, Paraná, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande will receive resources. do Norte, Rondônia, Roraima, Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, Sergipe and São Paulo.
The amounts described in the document will be transferred to the municipal departments directly into the current account registered in the Integrated Execution and Control Monitoring System (Sismec). And, by June 30, 2024, municipalities will have to present their accounts to the Fundeb Board, through the Accountability Management System (SiGPC).
