More than 250 labor auditors leave management positions – 01/24/2024 – Market

More than 250 labor inspectors from across the country handed over leadership and coordination positions in areas such as combating slave and child labor, and health and safety inspection, in mobilization for better working conditions and salary adjustments.

Servers complain about the lack of structure and equipment to carry out inspections (such as vehicles), in addition to work overload caused by a shortage of employees. According to Sinait (National Union of Labor Tax Auditors), the category operates with a workforce 40% smaller than that stipulated by law.

Data from the federal government’s personnel statistical panel show that this reduction has occurred since 2007, the year with the highest number of employees since the series began in 1999. At the time, 3,191 auditors were active, a number that fell to 1,902 in December last year .

These professionals are responsible for monitoring working conditions similar to slavery, combating informality, child labor, among others.

“We have the worst number of auditors in the last 34 years, and the volume of work has been reduced by almost half. Due to this lack, the servers are overloaded”, says Bob Everson Machado, president of Sinait.

The last public competition for the position was held in 2013. The “Enem dos Concursos” will have 900 vacancies, but, according to Machado, the number is not enough to make up for the shortage.

Employees in management positions have been leaving their posts since January 10th. They maintained activities considered essential, related to imminent risks, according to the president of Sinait. Yesterday, in São Paulo, 30 civil servants left their positions.

Tax auditor in Santa Catarina, Luciana Carvalho, 47, is one of the 255 coordinators who handed over their position amid the mobilization. She says that, due to the lack of servers, she became responsible for three areas: inclusion of people with disabilities, professional learning and combating child labor.

“We have a huge shortage of human resources, with delayed competitions and remuneration below what we believe to be deserved”, he states. Carvalho says that there is only one driver there to take auditors to the locations that will be inspected, which makes the work difficult.

According to her, the situation began when the Ministry of Labor ceased to exist. After being recreated, the folder was not restructured to meet the demand of servers, which continued to be low in number and lacking in equipment.

According to Bob Machado, president of the union, dialogues with the government have had results, and the opening of new vacancies is progress. However, he says there is still a lack of improvements in working conditions.

The category also calls for the regulation of a bonus agreed in 2016, for labor and revenue auditors.

In a statement, the Ministry of Labor says it recognizes the deficit and that the vacancies in the competition, even if they cannot make up for the gap, are an important step. The ministry also states that it is working to deliver new vehicles this semester, in addition to other equipment.
