In a hearing at the Federal Supreme Court (STF), last Thursday (14), Minister Alexandre de Moraes went to correct the defense lawyer of one of the defendants accused of participating in 8/1 for a gaffe during his presentation, but ended up himself committing another faux pas.

Lawyer Hery Kattwinkel Júnior questioned whether the STF was acting in a “legal or political” way and ended up getting confused when he referenced a quote from the book “The Prince”, by Machiavelli, as if it were from “The Little Prince”, by Antoine by Saint-Exupéry.

Irritated by the lawyer’s speech, minister Alexandre de Moraes classified Kattwinkel Júnior’s performance as “pathetic and mediocre”. Moraes also said that the lawyer made hate speech against the Court “to later post on social media” and alluded the conduct to a possible political candidacy.

“He didn’t analyze anything and it’s just not sad anymore because he still confused ‘The Prince’, by Machiavelli, with ‘The Little Prince’, by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, which are works that have absolutely nothing to do with each other. But, obviously, those who haven’t read either one go to Google and sometimes there’s a problem. That’s the problem with the world of social media. So, it’s really very sad,” said Moraes.

It turns out that when pronouncing the name of the author of “The Little Prince”, Moraes called him “Antoniê”, while the correct pronunciation of the Frenchman’s name is “Antoan”.

After the clash in the STF, the Solidariedade party decided to expel the lawyer from the party, claiming that he had “attacked the Supreme Court”.
