Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the STF (Supreme Federal Court), determined the reactivation of the profiles of the elected federal deputy Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG) on social networks, under the condition that he does not publish or share false news. In case of non-compliance, a daily fine of R$ 10 thousand will be applied.
The deputy had his social networks blocked on the last day 11 by Moraes, after the coup attacks by supporters of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) on the headquarters of the Three Powers.
Moraes’ order was directed at Facebook, Instagram, Telegram, Tik Tok, Twitter and YouTube.
Nikolas, 26, was Brazil’s most voted federal deputy in this election, with around 1.5 million votes.
At the time, Moraes had understood that Nikolas’ situation was related to that of senator-elect Alan Rick (União Brasil-AC), who also had his social media accounts blocked.
“In fact, from the examination of the content of the decision-making act, it is seen that the arguments conveyed for the release of Senator Alan Rick’s accounts are fully applicable in relation to Nikolas Ferreira, so that, considering the identity of the legal situation due to his status as an elected parliamentarian, the effects of the decision should extend to the federal deputy”, said Moraes in his decision.
Nikolas was one of Bolsonaro’s main supporters in the then president’s re-election campaign last year.
The politician from Minas Gerais declares himself “Christian, conservative and defender of the family” and, in the final stretch of the elections, was forced by the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) to publish right of reply from candidate Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) after dissemination of information false about the PT.
