The Minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Alexandre de Moraes granted, this Wednesday (14), provisional release to comedian Bismark Fugazza, from Canal Hipócritas, who had been arrested since March 17 at the Criminal Medical Complex of Paraná. Family members confirmed to People’s Gazette that the comedian left the prison around 9:40 am this Thursday (15).
The comedian, who was arrested in Paraguay, participated in pro-Bolsonaro demonstrations and against the inauguration of the then president-elect, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), and was also at the camp in front of the Army HQ, in Brasília.
“He was detained for alleged involvement with anti-democratic acts, in which groups financed by businessmen to be identified, dissatisfied with the result of the 2022 elections, began to block traffic on the country’s highways, with the aim of abolishing the Democratic State of Law. , calling for a ‘military coup,’” Bismark’s advisors said in a statement.
The Federal Police’s final report on the case pointed out, on May 12, that “It was not possible to show, in a minimally reasonable way, that Bismark had practiced or promoted the practice of acts that threatened democratic institutions that occurred on 01/08/2023 ”.
The Attorney General’s Office (PGR) also spoke out against maintaining the prison, which lasted 90 days. “At the present time, as highlighted by the Attorney General’s Office, there are no reasons for maintaining the extreme precautionary measure, whose effectiveness has already proved to be sufficient”, wrote the minister.
Despite the release, Moraes determined a series of precautionary measures for the comedian, such as the use of an electronic anklet, a ban on leaving the city where he lives and a ban on the use of social networks. Fugazza also had his passport and firearms registration canceled and will have to appear weekly in court for an indefinite period.
