Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) authorized this Tuesday (7) that a group of federal deputies visit people arrested for alleged involvement in the acts of January 8, in Brasília, which culminated in the invasion and depredation of headquarters of the Three Powers.

Authorization was given based on letters filed by Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG), Ubiratan Sanderson (PL-RS), Hélio Lopes (PL-RJ), Marcel van Hattem (Novo-RS) and Coronel Telhada (PP-SP) to visit detainees at the Federal District Women’s Penitentiary and at the Papuda Penitentiary Complex. According to the minister, the authorization is of a “strictly personal nature” only to those detained in the acts of January 8, and does not extend to companions. Alexandre de Moraes also highlighted that the investigations and diligences are carried out in secrecy, and that any application must be analyzed only by him.

Still in the decision, the minister pointed out that visits to detainees in the Federal District penitentiary system are limited to the restrictions determined by the Criminal Execution Court, such as the reduced number of visitors, the prohibition of entering the galleries with a cell phone, “as well as the registration of images inside prison units, under penalty of liability”.
