Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), authorized the Federal Police to have access to the biometric data registered at the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) of those investigated for involvement in the acts of January 8, which culminated in the invasion and depredation of the headquarters of the Three Powers in Brasília.

In the application, the corporation cited the need to identify people who have contributed to the commission of crimes, “including inciting or encouraging them on social networks.” In the decision, the minister considered the measure relevant to clarifying the investigations. (see in full)

The minister also determined that the National Traffic Secretariat (Senatram) and the National Institute of Information Technology (ITI) make available to the PF the services of checking the databases with the biographical data and photographs of the registered individuals.

Moraes points out, however, that the information used is subject to the security measures provided for in the General Data Protection Law.
