Running practice brings many benefits, it can contribute to heart health and help reduce symptoms of depression, anxiety and stress. It was with these benefits in mind that the Mixed Health Unit (UMS) of Mazagão held a race last Monday, the 1st, in celebration of Labor Day.
The 3km route through the streets of Mazagão Novo involved more than 200 people, including health professionals and community residents. This is already the second time that the Unit promotes a race as a way to encourage the practice of healthy habits for the prevention of diseases in the population.
According to the director, Cilene Baía, at first, the action would be aimed only at the unit’s servants, however, as the demand was great, registrations were also open to the community.
“We felt the desire to open up the participation of the community that answered the call, signed up, brought the family and exercised. It was a very rewarding moment, not only for promoting healthy practices, but also for integrating servers from the mixed unit with the community in general, which is of great importance for our service”, he detailed.
Teams of first-aiders from the unit followed the route to deal with possible intercurrences. Support points with water distribution were also set up in strategic locations.
The top 50 runners received a medal.
