The Ministry of Human Rights informed, this Saturday (28), that it will send a delegation to Boa Vista and surrounding regions, in Roraima, to monitor the humanitarian crisis that affects the Yanomami people and find out if there have been violations of the human rights of local communities. The entourage lands in Boa Vista this Sunday (29) and will carry out an agenda in the state between January 29 and February 2.

The team includes the ministry’s executive secretary, Rita Oliveira; the national secretary for the Rights of Children and Adolescents, Ariel de Castro Alves; the national secretary for the Promotion and Defense of Human Rights, Isadora Brandão; and the national ombudsman for Human Rights, Bruno Renato.

According to Minister Sílvio Almeida, the agenda will serve as a basis for the construction of a report that will guide the continuity of government actions. The ministry also articulates with civil society organizations, such as the Single Central of Favelas (CUFA) and the National Anti-Racist Front (FNA).

“The situation of the Yanomami people will only be resolved with long-term public policies, or in President Lula’s perfect synthesis, with the effective presence of the State. Necessary information will be collected for assertive action”, said the minister.
