The Ministry of Sport said on Wednesday night (6) that Ana Moser was “communicated” of the government’s decision of “an imminent change in command” of the portfolio. In a note, the ministry highlighted how the minister’s meeting with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) was to talk about the topic. The petista replaces Moser with federal deputy André Fufuca (PP-MA) to make room for Centrão. The former athlete’s management stated that it “views with sadness and dismay the temporary interruption of an inclusive sport public policy”.
“During the conversation, Ana Moser regretted that the campaign promises, of a sport for the whole nation, had had so little time to be developed in the resumption of the Ministry of Sport’s management focused on the implementation of a policy that put into effect the right social to sports practice. The minister presented the actions already implemented to the president, as well as the expected deliveries”, says the note.
“This administration sees with sadness and dismay the temporary interruption of an inclusive, democratic and egalitarian public sport policy by the Federal Government, but understands that this path has only just begun to be trodden”, added the portfolio.
Moser, who was not mentioned by the government in the note announcing the change in the ministry, thanked Lula for his “trust” and said that he will continue to fight for inclusive policies for Brazilian sport. “I received the decision from President Lula, whom I thank for his trust, that I will leave the Ministry of Sport. We had little time to change the reality of Sport in Brazil, but I know that we delivered a lot, built a lot and took President Lula’s policy to those we came into contact with from north to south of this country”, said the minister.
In addition to Moser, the Minister of Ports and Airports, Márcio França (PSB), was also replaced. Deputy Silvio Costa Filho (PE), from the Republicans, will assume the portfolio. França will lead the Ministry of Micro and Small Companies.
