Ministry of Health dismisses director responsible for sensual choreography at event

The person responsible for the 1st Mobilization Meeting for Health Promotion, which took place last week, resigned this Saturday (7), after the controversy involving an erotic dance performance at the event. The choreography, which was part of the “Em Prosa” project, received criticism from various sectors of society in recent days. The Ministry of Health reported that it does not support this type of demonstration and that it has adopted the appropriate measures to dismiss the director of the Department of Prevention and Health Promotion, Andrey Lemos.

The Minister of Health, Nísia Andrade took to social media to apologize and declare a “vehement repudiation” of an “inadmissible fact”.
Nísia reported that she was “surprised” by the episode and that during the event, it was on the agenda in the cities of Diadema and Mauá, in São Paulo. “We immediately created a curation to prevent similar circumstances from occurring in future events in our department.”

The director of the Department of Prevention and Health Promotion, according to the minister, took full responsibility for what happened. The minister also reiterated the Ministry of Health’s commitment to the entire program presented by President Lula and support for “strengthening the SUS with an inclusive vision, with respect for diversity and with the appreciation and reinforcement of democracy”

“Unfortunately, I was surprised by yesterday’s episode and I come, through this video, to apologize very sincerely for what happened and to reiterate the commitment of the Ministry of Health that its events reflect the conduct and guidance of the Ministry of Health and the Government led by President Lula”, concluded the minister.
