Minister who was the misfortune had 1 weekly agenda with SE – 01/13/2024 – Panel

Involved in controversy due to staff traveling to an out-of-season Carnival in Aracaju, the minister of the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic, Márcio Macêdo, maintained an average of one agenda per week linked to Sergipe throughout 2023.

According to information made available in the electronic calendar system of Executive authorities, there were at least 59 days in which Macêdo held a meeting or participated in some commitment related to the state in which he built his political base — he was a federal deputy from 2011 to 2015 and later took over in 2022, with the impeachment of Valdevan Noventa (PL).

In 2020, he ran for mayor of Aracaju, but came in fourth place in the first round, with 9.55% of the votes.

In 2023, there were at least six meetings with the re-elected mayor, Edvaldo Nogueira (PDT). Macêdo is tipped to run for office in this year’s municipal election.

The minister also met at least six times with governor Fábio Mitidieri (PSD). The agenda also includes representatives of the National Congress, such as senator Rogério Carvalho (PT-SE) and deputy Delegate Katarina (PSD-SE), as well as state deputies and councilors.

The minister received mayors and gave interviews to television and radio stations in Sergipe and participated in events in the state. In May, for example, he was at the delivery of tractors and agricultural implements at the Codevasf Headquarters in Sergipe, and visited hospitals and the facilities of the Federal University of Sergipe.

In November, the agenda includes the delivery of agricultural machinery in the municipality of Salgado (SE), while in December there is a new record of delivery of tractors and agricultural implements to the Codevasf headquarters in the state.

Macêdo was also present, in October, at the launch of the tender for the construction of the bridge connecting Neópolis (SE) to Penedo (AL), in an event held at the Ministry of Transport, led by Renan Filho.

The civil servants’ trip with public resources —returned later— generated a crisis in the ministry, as they had no official agenda in the capital of Sergipe and only participated in the Pre-Caju event.

The minister himself, whose political base is Aracaju, says he paid for his trip out of his own pocket. The minister said that the advisors’ trip was due to a “formal error”.

The Panel questioned the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic about why the minister has dedicated so much time on the agenda to the state and whether it is related to a possible dispute in the Aracaju municipal election or the state government in 2026, but there was no response.
