Minister Waldez Góes learns about projects that stimulate regional development through architecture and urbanism – News of Brazil

The Minister of Integration and Regional Development, Waldez Góes, received representatives of the Architecture and Urbanism Council of Brazil (CAU/BR). During the meeting, projects were presented for the construction, with the support of architecture and urbanism, of an economic and social development policy of territorial organization in the country, guiding and inducing environmental preservation, the reduction of inequalities and the offer of opportunities for generation of employment and income.
The projects presented relate to areas such as city and regional planning; housing, public health and environment; appreciation of architecture and urbanism; taxes and labor; education; and relationship with society.
Examples of research and activities that can be articulated to recover homes damaged and destroyed by natural disasters, such as heavy rains, hail, floods and windstorms, among others, were also presented.
Another topic addressed was the Mais Arquitetos program, launched by CAU Brasil in April last year. The focus will be on the Law of Technical Assistance in Housing of Social Interest, which guarantees families with an income of up to three minimum wages the right to free technical assistance for projects, renovations and construction of housing.
After learning about the proposals, the minister highlighted that it is the responsibility of the Ministry of Integration and Regional Development to articulate and structure projects with transversality among the other ministries. He also pointed out directions for the entourage in relation to the articulation of contact networks.
“I felt a lot of receptivity from the ministry. The minister is concerned about sustainable territorial development. In today’s meeting, we already received a direction and connections that we need to make, not only with the federal government, but also with local governments and municipalities”, highlighted the president of CAU/BR, Nádia Somekh.
The delegation of the Council of Architecture and Urbanism of Brazil also included the president of CAU/AP, Welton Barreiros, the advisors Camila Leal and Humberto Mauro, the advisor for Institutional Relations, Luciana Rubino, the coordinator of the Urban and Environmental Planning Commission, Ricardo Mascarello, and the special advisor to the presidency of CAU/BR, Antonio Couto Nunes.
