Last Sunday, November 19, Minister Waldez Góes made an important visit to the municipality of Tartarugalzinho, accompanied by the director of the National Center for Risk and Disaster Management, Armin Braun, and his delegation. The head of integration and regional development was welcomed by Mayor Bruno Mineiro. The main objective of the agenda was to assess the severe impacts of the drought in the region.

During the visit, the minister and neighboring mayors had the opportunity to closely observe the alarming situation of the Tartarugalzinho river, which is practically dry on the city’s edge, highlighting the seriousness of the water shortage faced by the population.

In addition to the inspection of the river, the minister and mayor Bruno Mineiro met with mayors Carlos Sampaio, from Amapá, Reinaldo, from Calçoene, and Bessa from Porto Grande, to discuss collaborative strategies in the face of the emergency situation, and also define the next steps to be taken to assist fishing and livestock activities, which were hit hard by the drought. The meeting took place at Tartarugalzinho City Hall.

The federal government is directly engaged in resolving these challenges, allocating resources and offering humanitarian aid, such as sending four thousand basic food baskets, mineral water and renting additional water trucks to meet the most urgent needs of the population affected by the drought. . These actions are the result of meetings between Mayor Bruno Mineiro and several ministers on agendas in Brasília, in October.

This action demonstrates the government’s commitment to facing the devastating effects of the drought and ensuring quick and effective assistance to the community of Tartarugalzinho and surrounding municipalities.
