Minister: União Brasil must walk with Lula in 2026 – 01/31/2024 – Panel

The Minister of Tourism, Celso Sabino, states that the probability that his party, União Brasil, will support the re-election of President Lula (PT) in 2026 is greater than that of him following a different path, as defended by his party colleague and governor of Goiás, Ronaldo Caiado.

“I respect the will, the individual desires of some members of our party, but I believe that the probability of our party moving towards re-election with President Lula is much greater than not”, he tells the Panel.

He cites some episodes planned for the coming months that should contribute to this scenario, such as “the election of the president of the Senate of our party [Davi Alcolumbre]the election of the president of the Chamber of our party [Elmar Nascimento]with the support of the government, including two ministries nominated by parliamentarians from our party in the Chamber”.

In addition to Tourism, União Brasil also nominated the Minister of Communications, Juscelino Filho —Waldez Góes, from Integration, would also be part of the Union’s quota, but nominated by Alcolumbre.

In an interview with the newspaper O Globo, Caiado placed himself as a pre-candidate for União Brasil for the position, said that he will work to obtain support from former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) for his candidacy and stated that he does not believe that the party will walk with Lula in the 2026 elections.
