The Minister of Agriculture, Carlos Fávaro (PSD), defended the possession of weapons by the rural population to defend rural properties. The information was given this Tuesday (4) in an interview with journalists, in Brasília.

“It’s legitimate for the man in the field to have a gun or two there to make the first defense, a little ammo. Because, of course, it is 50, 100 kilometers from the city. If he calls 911 [número da polícia]there is time for the bandit to barbarize, do whatever he wants inside the property, steal, hit, beat and the police have not yet arrived”, declared Fávaro.

According to the minister, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) also defends the possession of firearms by the rural population. “If criminality is sure that there are no weapons in the countryside, vulnerability is certain and the risk of the rural man is imminent. And the president thinks so too, ”he pointed out.

Fávaro also added the need for a balance for the purchase of weapons by the rural population. “It doesn’t make sense, out there on a property, to have 100 guns, AR 15, AK 47, rifle. For what? So balance. The country man will still be entitled to a gun or two and some ammo. More than that, it’s overkill,” he said.
