Militão has serious injury confirmed and may miss Real’s season

The 2023-2024 European season has barely started for Éder Militãobut may already be compromised: the Real Madrid confirmed this Sunday (13) that the injury suffered in the game with Athletic Bilbao resulted in a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament of the left knee, which will require surgery. The injury occurred early in the second half. The defender went to dispute the ball with midfielder Oihan Sancet, but lost his balance and spun his body, straining his knee and causing it to break. At the same time, he fell to the ground and asked for medical attention, confirming his departure from the match afterwards.

Militão managed to walk away with the help of the doctors, but his face already showed that he expected the worst. Carlo Ancelotti, coach of Real Madrid, also hinted at the size of the problem when the match ended, still unaware of the rupture at the time.

The game ended with a 2-0 victory for the meringues, with goals from Rodrygo and Jude Bellingham, the club’s main reinforcement in the last transfer window.

Running the risk of missing almost an entire season is something new for the Brazilian, given that he doesn’t have a history of more serious injuries. In the current team, he had not spent more than a month in the medical department. At the time of São Paulo, he was only injured once, when he had a thigh strain, but he soon returned to the lawns.
