A fight between two PSOL activists marked the party’s National Congress this Sunday (1/10), in Brasília, where the party’s command until 2026 was decided.

The video of the fight that took place on the stage circulated on the internet. The discussion was confirmed by the party’s president Juliano Medeiros, but the reason for the fight was not disclosed. The party leadership regretted what happened, and said that the case is being investigated.

At the event, PSOL activists elected historian Paula Coradi as president of the party until 2026. She is part of the group led by federal deputy and pre-candidate for Mayor of São Paulo, Guilherme Boulos (SP), which supports the government of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).

Paula Coradi said that one of her priorities at the head of the party is to elect Boulos as mayor of São Paulo, which already has confirmation of support from the PT for the election, and to re-elect Edmilson Nogueira as head of Belém (PA) City Hall. Furthermore, she mentioned two other pre-candidates for mayor who, according to her, have “very good possibilities”: federal deputies Tarcísio Motta (Rio de Janeiro) and Talíria Petrone (Niterói- RJ).

Coradi’s choice did not please the other wing of the party, the Socialist Left Movement (MES), which advocates a more independent approach to the government, and has as leaders the federal deputies Sâmia Bomfim (SP) and Fernanda Melchionna (RS) .
