MIDR opens stand at the 52nd Expofeira do Amapá with a focus on the development of the Amazon – News of Brazil

The Ministry of Integration and Regional Development (MIDR) participates in the 52nd Amapá Agricultural Expo with the stand “Desenvolve Amazônia”. The inauguration of the MIDR stand at the event included the delivery of Tax Incentive Certificates to eight companies located in the Legal Amazon. The 52nd Amapá Agricultural Expofair began on Friday, 29th, and will continue until October 8th, at the Fazendinha Exhibition Park, in the south of Macapá.
During the handover ceremony, the minister Waldez Góes, accompanied by the president of the São Francisco and Parnaíba Valleys Development Company (Codevasf), Marcelo Moreira, and the superintendent of the Amazon Development Superintendency (Sudam), Paulo Rocha, emphasized the Federal Government’s commitment to reducing social inequalities in Amapá.
“I am sure that, with the honey, açaí and fish integration routes, we will generate income and insert Amapá as a leading and exporting state. Furthermore, we will reduce local and regional inequalities, which is President Lula’s commitment and my responsibility as Minister of Regional Integration and Development”highlighted Waldez.
In the coming days, the MIDR stand will hold several workshops on the region’s production chains, such as açaí, cocoa, honey, fish and bioeconomy, with the aim of promoting exchange between routes, disseminating information, technological innovations and work methodologies, in addition to offering support for regional development opportunities. The event will also include the launch of the Shrimp Atlas, a publication and website funded by MIDR in partnership with the Ministry of Fisheries, which addresses the Pathways to the Sustainable Development of National Shrimp Farming.
The president of Codevasf, Marcelo Moreira, highlighted the company’s role in the regional development of Amapá. “Codevasf, like Sudam, is here in Amapá supporting MIDR’s actions. We have already brought more than R＄400 million in federal resources to Amapá and we are here to help the state, contributing to the public policies of the Ministry of Integration and Regional Development and promoting more development for the people of Amapá, with works in all segments and in all municipalities in the state”stated Moreira.
Sudam superintendent, Paulo Rocha, explained the importance of delivering the certificates to encourage producers in the region.
“The certificates awarded at the event are recognition for entrepreneurs who demonstrated effectiveness in implementing the incentive and investment policies promoted by Sudam in the region. This is a way to highlight and reward companies that contribute to regional development through these initiatives. Certifying good initiatives is very important to encourage the success and continuity of these economic development efforts”highlighted Paul.
