Former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro avoided responding to the case of jewelry given by the government of Saudi Arabia to former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) when participating in a PL Woman event this Tuesday (21).
When asked by the Sheet if she would have taken care of the jewelry with Bolsonaro during her trip to the United States last week, Michelle replied: “Do you know what the priority jewelry is that day? It is the women who inspire and make it happen”.
The first lady made this comparison again in her speech. “In proverbs 31:10 it says that a virtuous woman is more precious than precious stones. And today, the only jewel present here is you. Women who inspire, women who make a difference, women who work in the promotion of human beings and that change realities”, he said.
When addressing a pastor who was in the audience, he said that “you are indeed a precious jewel”.
Considered a PL bet for the 2026 election, Michelle has suffered wear and tear in recent days due to the jewelry scandal that was sent by the Saudi Arabian government to the former first lady, according to the first versions given by those involved.
In October 2021, the then Minister of Mines and Energy Bento Albuquerque led a delegation to an international event in Saudi Arabia. On his return, an advisor to the then minister had a set of luxury items seized from the Revenue Service at the airport in Guarulhos (SP), including a necklace, earrings, a ring and a watch by the Swiss brand Chopard. The value of these objects was estimated at around R$16.5 million.
When the case came to light, Michelle denied being the recipient of the jewelry, but did not explain the case and was ironic. “You mean ‘I have all this’ and I didn’t know? My God! You’re really going too far, huh?! I’m laughing at the lack of relevance of this print [sic] vexing,” he posted on Instagram.
