Lula remembers prison and said he would ‘fuck this Moro’ – 03/21/2023 – Politics

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) recalled this Tuesday (21) that, during the period in which he was imprisoned in the Federal Police jail, in Curitiba, he used to tell prosecutors who were going to visit him that he would “fuck this I live”.

The statement was given during a live interview for the Brasil 247 portal.

Lula became emotional as he answered questions about his time in prison in Curitiba. He said he felt a lot of hurt and mentioned the loss of his wife Marisa Letícia and one of his brothers.

“It’s funny that I stayed in that jail there and it was a very rich moment in my life of resistance. How many times did I lie on that bed and lay on my back looking at the ceiling”, said the president, when he started to cry.

He then stated that the methods of the Lava Jato task force led people to report, because they could not withstand the pressure. He said that federal deputy Aécio Neves (PSDB-MG) could not stand “a cover of Veja magazine”.

“Once in a while a prosecutor would go there on a Saturday, a weekday, to ask if everything was okay. Three or four prosecutors would come in and ask: ‘Is everything okay?’ ‘[Eu respondia:] It is not alright. It’s only going to be okay when I fuck this Moro. You cut out the word ‘fuck’,” said the president during the interview.

Lula was arrested in 2018 and spent 580 days in the PF jail in Curitiba.

Lula also commented on the rumors that he will nominate his lawyer, Cristiano Zanin, for the vacancy on the STF (Federal Supreme Court) that will open with the retirement of Minister Ricardo Lewandowski. He said he still doesn’t know who he will nominate and that he has no commitment to any candidate.

On the other hand, he praised Zanin.

“Zanin was the great legal revelation in recent years. Zanin was heavily criticized [ao fazer a defesa de Lula na Lava Jato]because I wasn’t a criminalist, a lot of people asked me ‘you have to hire so-and-so’, a lot of people from my party really”, he said.

Lula also added that the eventual establishment of mandates for ministers of the Supreme Court is a matter that “will be discussed in the near future”, although he did not take a position when asked about this format.

The agent was also asked about the possibility of indicating the reappointment of the attorney general, Augusto Aras, for a new term. Lula did not want to answer directly, he just repeated that he will not follow the triple list that will be presented by the Federal Public Ministry. And he blamed the Lava Jato task force, whom he called “kids”, in justifying his position.

“The only thing I’m sure of is that I’m not going to choose another triple list. And the Federal Public Ministry has to know that I’m not going to choose because of the irresponsibility of the Paraná task force, which was a kid, which damaged the image of the Federal Public Ministry, which almost destroyed the image of the seriousness of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, an irresponsible kid’s bench. They threw out something that only I had done, choosing the triple list”, said the president.

“I don’t have anyone in mind yet. I’m not going to nominate anyone who is my friend. I don’t want to nominate anyone to benefit me,” he added.
