The new president of the São Paulo Metrô, Julio Castiglioni, said this Monday (24) to company employees in leadership positions that he wants to change and improve the state-owned company’s contingency plan against strikes. The stoppage that took place at the end of March deeply irritated Governor Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans).
According to Castiglioni, one of the ideas is to use servers in administrative functions, but which have commanded trains in the past, to keep the service operational. To do this, it may be necessary to offer refresher courses.
He stated that the current plan against strikes is good, but that it is necessary to improve it, to serve the population in an integral way.
He also said that he intends to hire a consultancy to think about the future of the company. This model has been widely used by the Tarcísio administration to prepare for the privatization of companies such as Sabesp and CPTM.
The new president of Metrô made a point of making it clear, however, that there is no decision on selling the state-owned company, but the speech was viewed with distrust by some employees. During Tarcísio’s administration at the Ministry of Infrastructure, Castiglioni was responsible for privatizing the port of Vitória.
