Lionel Messi, 35, said this Tuesday (13) that he does not believe he will play in another World Cup. The statement was given in an interview with Chinese journalists. Last year, the striker was the star of Argentina’s conquest of the World Cup in Qatar.
“I’ve said many times before that I don’t believe [que vá jogar em 2026]so that [de 2022] it was my last World Cup,” he said.
He will be 39 when the tournament to be split between the United States, Canada and Mexico arrives.
“We’ll see how things evolve but, in theory, I don’t think I’ll be on the pitch at the next World Cup.”
A week after confirming that he will play for Inter Milan, in Major League Soccer, the star traveled to Beijing, where Argentina will play a friendly against Australia on Thursday (15).
A few months ago, he had told the Buenos Aires daily Olé that it was “very difficult” to play in another World Cup, confirming what he had already said before and during the tournament in Qatar.
