The Extraordinary National Conference on Education (CONAEE), organized by the Ministry of Education, provided twice as many vacancies for “Movements for the Affirmation of Diversity” when compared to vacancies for the scientific community. In addition, the number is also four times higher than expected for inspection and control bodies.

In all, there will be 2,400 vacancies, but of the 315 foreseen in the category “delegates by sectors by state indication”, 135 will be destined to “Movements for the Affirmation of Diversity”. Meanwhile, the scientific community will have 52 vacancies and the supervisory and control bodies will have 32. Delegates from this sector will be appointed by the states and will receive resources from the MEC for the purchase of tickets and payment of per diems for participation in CONAEE.

In addition, the delegates appointed by the states will be entitled to vote in deliberative plenary sessions during the national stage that will take place in Brasília, from January 28th to 30th. Among the axes that will guide the discussions is “Education, Human Rights, Inclusion and Diversity”, which will act in “combating different and new forms of inequality, discrimination and violence”.

The States and the Federal District will also receive financial resources from the MEC for the organization of conferences that are expected to be held at state and municipal levels.

A People’s Gazette requested information from the Ministry of Education, but until the publication of this article there were no responses.
