Mayor of Rio Preto da Eva is arrested for illegally carrying a weapon during a PF operation

Manaus (AM) – On the morning of this Thursday (28), the Federal Police launched Operation Emergency 192, to combat crimes, misappropriation of public resources and fraud in bidding on contracts signed by the City Hall of Rio Preto da Eva. Mayor Anderson Sousa (União Brazil), the manager’s brother-in-law and one of his security guards were arrested in the act. Anderson will be interviewed by authorities and released.

The operation was carried out in a condominium in the West Zone of Manaus. According to the PF, there are signs of favoritism in the hiring of the company that supplied medicines to the municipality’s health sector. The institution operates in the construction sector and partners from other companies that competed in the competition maintain a relationship with the organization that won the bid.

Furthermore, the documents presented in the bidding raised suspicions about a prior agreement for the construction company to benefit. 25 federal police officers were mobilized, carrying out 5 search and seizure warrants in strategic locations identified during the investigations.
