To guarantee the singer’s presence, the mayor plans to disburse R$500,000 from public coffers

Manacapuru (AM) — The mayor of Manacapuru, Beto D’Ângelo (Republicans), signed a high-value contract to take Zé Felipe to a presentation on the municipality’s anniversary, on July 15th. To guarantee the singer’s presence, the mayor plans to disburse R$500,000 from public coffers. The contract extract was published in the Official Electronic Gazette of the Municipalities of the State of Amazonas (AAM), in March.

The contract was signed on February 22nd. The document also names the server Fábio Júnior Duarte Martins as inspector of the contract, valid for 6 months. According to the document, the singer will be one of the attractions at Manacapuru’s 92nd birthday.

In the contract signed by Mayor Beto D’Ângelo, the hiring of the “national singer” is seen as necessary to “meet the needs of the Municipal Department of Education and Culture — SEMEC”. Furthermore, the document does not inform whether the contract value will be paid all at once or in installments.

The show is scheduled to take place during the city’s anniversary, in Parque do Ingá, known as “Cirandódromo”, the party is held every year for three days.

Controversy in hiring shows

The millionaire signing of singer Zé Felipe is not the first in Manacapuru. In October 2023, while the State was facing the biggest water crisis, Mayor Beto D’Ângelo hired singer Zé Vaqueiro, to be an attraction at the Manacapuru Agricultural Fair. During the historic drought, the mayor hired the company “Zé Vaqueiro Original Music LTDA” for R$490,000, a period when the municipality was in a state of alert due to the drought.

At the time, the hiring of a million-dollar show in a period of crisis caught the attention of the State’s supervisory authorities. The Court of Auditors of the State of Amazonas (TCE-AM), through advisor Mario de Mello, gave the mayor 48 hours to explain the hiring of the show in a period of water crisis. The Amazonas Public Ministry of Accounts (MPC) had requested an immediate suspension of the contract.

The newspaper In time contacted Manacapuru City Hall’s press office, but did not receive a response until the publication of this article. The space is open for future positioning.
