In just over five months of government, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mauro Vieira, has already broken the mark of 100 audiences with foreign authorities.
The 100th took place last Friday (2) in Cape Town, in a meeting with the South African president, Cyril Ramaphosa.
Since then, there have been three more, all in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, with Abiy Ahmed, Prime Minister of the country, Demeke Mekkonnen, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Mussa Faki Mahamat, President of the African Union Commission. .
The account does not include 30 meetings with foreigners in which Vieira accompanied President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
The chancellor’s frantic pace is the result of Lula’s orientation to resume Brazil’s protagonism on the international stage, after four years of the Jair Bolsonaro (PL) government, in which the country was often considered a “pariah”.
