Mauro Cid asks the STF not to testify to the CPMI on January 8

Lieutenant Colonel Mauro Cid’s defense filed a lawsuit with the Federal Supreme Court requesting a preventive habeas corpus so that he does not have to testify to the Joint Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPMI) on January 8th. Cid acted as an assistant to former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL).
This Tuesday (13), the parliamentarians of the collegiate approved the summoning of Cid, of former Minister of Justice Anderson Torres, among others. The lawyers argue that they had access to the entirety of what was found by the Federal Police during the investigation.
The defense asks that if the minister does not comply with the request, that “the right to silence be assured” to Cid. In addition, it requests that “the guarantee of not being conducted coercively be ensured”. For the lawyers, if the former aide-de-camp is obliged to appear, this “would violate the principles of adversarial proceedings and ample defense”.
