Marina Silva, hospitalized with Covid, should be discharged soon – 05/08/2023 – Environment

The Minister of the Environment and Climate Change, Marina Silva, should be discharged soon after being hospitalized for Covid-19. She was admitted to InCor (Heart Institute), in São Paulo, in the early hours of Saturday (6), with flu and sinus symptoms.

According to the medical bulletin released earlier this Monday afternoon (8), the health status of the minister remains stable and is evolving clinically well. As Folha found out, Marina was admitted to the unit with a cough, runny nose and malaise, and the hospitalization was more as a precaution. The disease did not reach the lungs.

The minister is accompanied by three professionals: cardiologist Sérgio Timerman, infectologist Tânia Mara Varejão Strabelli, and the director of InCor’s pneumology division, Carlos Roberto Ribeiro de Carvalho.

Last week, Marina participated in the Terra Livre Camp, in Brasilia, when President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) announced the ratification of six indigenous lands awaiting demarcation.

Already hospitalized, the minister commented on Twitter about the coronation of King Charles 3rd. “A personality who has as one of his causes the defense of the environment and the fight against global warming.”

Marina also wrote about the UK’s donation of £80 million (R$500 million) to the Amazon Fund, announced on Friday (5th) by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak during an agenda with Lula at the British government headquarters, in London.

“It represents confirmation of the support not only of the monarch, but of the British government and people to the struggle of the government and people of Brazil for the Amazon.”

Last March, Marina was hospitalized for two days in a private hospital in Brasília, also with the flu, but at the time the tests ruled out Covid or dengue.
