In an interview with a pool of ten radio stations across the country, the Minister of the Environment, Marina Silva, repeated, this Wednesday morning, 9, what she had already said in Belém, during the Amazon Summit, which ended today : “Ibama does not facilitate or hinder licensing”, regarding studies that Petrobras wants to carry out on the Equatorial Margin of the coast of Amapá in search of possible oil and gas veins.

Marina answered the question from journalist Luiz Melo, from Diário FM 90.9, who introduced the question remembering that Amapá is the most preserved state in Brazil and that this could influence the impediment of studies and possible oil exploration on the Atlantic coast.

The minister made a quick retrospective on the question of the Equatorial Margin, where there would be oil and gas, noting that a private company tried to study the region, but without presenting the necessary documentation, the license was denied.

So Petrobras became interested in the same Equatorial Margin, presented a work plan that was not approved due to environmental and technical issues. Marina informed, however, that Ibama already has new documentation from Petrobras, with the same objective.

“The new Petrobras project is already at Ibama, which will analyze it very carefully and then we will make our decision, remembering what President Lula always says, respecting science and the environment”, pointed out Marina Silva.
