Marcos do Val reaffirms to the PF that the plan to record Moraes came from Silveira, says newspaper

Senator Marcos do Val (Podemos-ES) gave a new statement this Wednesday (19) to the Federal Police and reaffirmed that former deputy Daniel Silveira (PTB-RJ) was the creator of the plan to raise suspicions against the Minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Alexandre de Moraes. The plan would have been discussed at a meeting attended by Do Val, Silveira and former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL). The information was released by portal g1.

The senator’s hearing lasted about four hours this afternoon. He reaffirmed to the agents the information in the testimony he gave in February about the case. Silveira’s plan, according to Do Val, would be to record Moraes and induce the minister to say something against the electoral system.

Marcos do Val reported that he was sought out by Silveira and that Bolsonaro had invited him to the meeting at the Alvorada Palace. After the invitation, the senator asked to be received by Moraes and asked the minister whether or not he should attend the meeting. According to the parliamentarian, Moraes would have said that “information is always important”

Already at the meeting with Silveira and Bolsonaro, the former deputy would have discussed the possible recording of Moraes in order to invalidate the result of the presidential elections. The senator again said that Bolsonaro only heard the proposal and did not comment on the matter.

The parliamentarian would also have informed everything that happened during the meeting to the minister. Last week, the former president testified about the case and confirmed that the meeting actually took place. However, he denied that there was a discussion about a coup d’état.

In February, Moraes determined the opening of a preliminary investigation to investigate the alleged coup plot that, according to the senator, would have been articulated by Silveira. At the time, Marcos do Val presented different versions of the case and even said that Bolsonaro tried to coerce him into a coup d’état.

Later, however, the senator told the PF that this did not happen and that the former president only heard Silveira’s alleged plan, a version he maintained in his testimony this Wednesday. Last month, Do Val was the target of a search and seizure by the PF as part of the investigation into the acts of January 8. The operation was authorized by Moraes.
