Manaus (AM) — Between March 18 and 29, 2024, Parque das Tribos hosted the “Máquina de Fazer Ver” workshop. The project aims to encourage the preservation of the collective memory of the Kokama people through audiovisual productions. From this training activity, they were able to learn new mechanisms and digital tools to spread their culture and traditions.

The final result of the projects of the two groups that carried out the workshops can be seen on the website www.grupojurubebas.com, on www.youtube.com/grupojurubebas and on social media @grupojurubebas from 7pm this Sunday (31st), free of charge .

The project was divided into three stages: the audiovisual production and recording workshop; then the practical production of the registration of participants guided by the mediator; and, finally, the launch of the videos, results of the workshop, on the digital platforms created for the project.

“The ‘Making Machine’ workshop presents the possibility of telling one’s own stories, learning recording techniques, approaches and handling of equipment, script writing and video editing”,

says Leandro Paz, actor, cultural producer and indigenous Kokama music researcher and mediator of the entire process.

The project is inspired by the article “Cartography of a route”, by Gilson Costa and Dolores Galindo; aiming at the autonomy of the creative process and historical record as an audiovisual document in the Parque das Tribos region.

The workshops were taught by Thiago Morais, Felipe Maya Jatobá and Nicka, professionals in the cultural sector who also work in this segment. The production was carried out by Maurille Kokama, indigenous leader of the Kokama people in the Amazon and historian.

The classes were held in two spaces: in the Maloca dos Povos Indígenas, with the chief Ismael Munduruku; and at Ateliê Derequine, with Vanda Witoto, an indigenous leader who develops several environmental and cultural preservation projects in the Parque das Tribos region.

This project was included in the MANAUS FAZ CULTURE 2023 PROGRAM notice, from the City of Manaus, and meets the municipality’s Itinerant Culture Program.
