Presenter claimed to act in self-defense and asked the Civil Police to guarantee the suspect’s integrity

Presenter Manoel Soares had his home invaded by a burglar on Monday night (18), in São Paulo. After verifying that there was no accomplice, the ex-global got into a physical fight with the suspect. At the time of the action, the four children, the son-in-law and an employee were present.

According to information from the program ‘A Tarde é Sua’, on Rede TV!, the criminal approached Manoel’s collaborator on the sidewalk, making a sound of assault. He then forced the girl to enter the residence, ordered people to lie down on the floor and took their cell phones.

Manoel, who has experience in conflict mediation, spoke to the robber, with the aim of checking whether he was armed and removing him from the house to leave his family safe. When Soares went out into the backyard with the criminal, he did not see any companion providing cover and got into a physical fight, managing to immobilize the criminal and then calling the police.

During the program, Manoel Soares’ advisor confirmed the news and assured that everyone is well. The team stressed that the ex-Globo player does not recommend reacting to a robbery, but that because of his experience he decided to confront the criminal for the benefit of his relatives. His son-in-law and one of his sons, who is a Jiu-Jitsu fighter, helped him hold the criminal until the authorities arrived.

“It was a moment of panic, but thank God I had emotional control to overcome the situation,” he told A Tarde é Sua. The presenters highlighted that, even with self-defense, Manoel asked the Military Police not to attack him and to guarantee his integrity, taking him to the hospital to check whether or not the suspect was injured.

The case was registered at the 36th Police Station. The criminal is hospitalized in serious condition, arrested and being accompanied by security agents.
