Manchester City secure hard-fought win against Newcastle

It was not the show that was expected, but Manchester City did their homework and beat Newcastle 1-0 this Saturday, for the English Premier League. In a clash where the stars failed to make the difference, Julián Álvarez scored the goal that secured the three points for coach Pep Guardiola’s team.

The result was important to keep the team already fighting for the first places in the classification. The current three-time English champion remains with 100% success in two rounds and is alongside Brighton, who lead the table for the best goal difference (6 to 4).

Despite playing in front of their fans, Manchester City found it difficult to overcome the efficient marking scheme imposed by Newcastle. With Haaland trapped between the defenders, coach Pep Guardiola’s team had to rotate the ball to find space.
