Manaus will host the June festival “Dr.Thomas na Roça” on June 1st, with free admission

The celebration is always much awaited by the elderly, a time to welcome family, friends and society on the day of the event.

Manaus (AM) – June month starting and Manaus City Hall, through the Doutor Thomas Foundation, began preparations for the traditional June festival “Dr.Thomas na Roça”. The event is part of the “Longa Permanência” program and will take place on June 1st, starting at 4:30 pm, at the institution’s premises, located at Rua Dr. Thomas, nº 798, Nossa Senhora das Graças neighborhood, Center-South zone.

For the director-president of FDT, Martha Moutinho, to return with the “Dr. Thomas na Roça” is a great joy.

“The mayor of Manaus, David Almeida, always advises and supports that all the activities carried out at the FDT are to provide the best social interaction for the elderly residents. Festas Juninas are cultural events of great importance for Brazil and have become one of the main events of the FDT. The multidisciplinary team detects that it brings a lot of joy and is good for the elderly, there is an improvement in the physical and mental well-being of residents when events like this happen”,

Games, typical food, dancing and fun will not be lacking on this day. The “Doutor Thomas na Roça” party will feature the traditional gang of institutionalized seniors and collaborators, Ciranda Sensação da Raiz, Quadrilha Brotinho de Petrópolis and the special participation of Banda Gang do Forró and Forró Delivery, presenting a dancing show for the elderly.

After three years without being held, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the celebration is always greatly anticipated by the elderly, a time to welcome family, friends and society on the day of the event.

“For an institution for the elderly, promoting celebrations throughout the year helps to create a dynamic routine and, for this reason, we are always keeping an eye on commemorative dates, such as the month of June festivities, a way of creating opportunities for cognitive stimulation, encouragement to the socialization and construction of new stories for the institutionalized elderly person”,

highlighted the head of the Division and Care for the Elderly, Nadyanne Santos.

Suely Gama, 68, FDT resident for eight years, will participate in the group of institutionalized elderly people and makes a special invitation to society as a whole.

“I love parties, I was asking every day if this year we would have ours. I like to put on my June clothes, I’m really in the mood, I take advantage of the moment to talk and meet new people. I invite everyone to participate in this June celebration with me and the seniors of Fundação Doutor Thomas”,

he said.
