Sorocaba (SP) announces the largest water slide in the world – 05/23/2023 – Tourism

The city of Sorocaba, 103 km from São Paulo, will gain a private water park that promises to open the biggest water slide in the world. Named Everest, the attraction in the interior of São Paulo will be 60 meters high, the equivalent of a 21-story building, in addition to 170 meters in length.

Called Acqua Thermas Park, the project will have an investment of R$ 150 million, with 100% private resources, and should start operating in 2025. The complex will be installed on a private plot of 120,000 m2^twoin the Brigadeiro Tobias neighborhood, east side, with easy access via the Castello Branco (SP-280) and Raposo Tavares (SP-270) highways.

According to the Guinness Book of Records, the largest water slide in the world is Kilimanjaro, which is 49.9 meters high and is located in Barra do Piraí, in Rio de Janeiro. After its inauguration, Everest will occupy the first place in the ranking.

“It will be delivered in phases. The goal is to inaugurate the first phase in October 2025, with at least half of the work completed”, says Luiz Gustavo Pacces, 45, marketing and communication director for Acqua Thermas Park. Ticket prices are still being evaluated.

The start of works will depend on environmental approvals. This will be the company’s second venture in the field. The same group owns another complex located in Paranapanema (SP).

For the first phase of the development, at least ten swimming pools, food court, ticket office, administrative building, kiosks, zip line, tree climbing area, playground, hotel and parking with about 1,200 spaces are planned.

When completed, the complex will include ten water slides, 3,000 m^two beach, lazy river, wave pool, restaurants, water mirror, children’s pool, hot tub and area for shows. In all, there will be about 1,400 m^two of swimming pools.

The space also provides resort infrastructure with 120 accommodations. The Sorocaba waterslide will also have a reception pool, with braking through the attraction channel itself.

The place will have a ticket office and day use service — a short-term booking model, which starts in the morning and ends in the late afternoon. The tourist complex is expected to attract 150,000 visitors per month.
