Manaus kids win under-13 IberCup by beating Flamengo

The Amazon kids from the Inter Academy soccer school in Manaus made history on Rio de Janeiro’s soil, beating Flamengo 1-0 and winning the IberCup Sub-13, which was played from July 17 to 22, at the Aeronautics Club, in Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro. The title guaranteed a passport and a place in the IberCup Estoril in Portugal, with expenses, tickets and hotels paid.

The Inter Academy in Manaus wrote its name in the history of the IberCup in capital letters, winning the title of the important stage in Rio de Janeiro, becoming the best team in the sub-13 category, after a brilliant trajectory full of challenges.

The team, led by coach Nedson Silva, demonstrated collective strength, determination and exceptional talent, overcoming obstacles and becoming champions in the competition.

Since the beginning of the tournament, Inter Academy de Manaus has shown its determination and quality on the pitch. The team faced high-level opponents from various parts of Brazil and abroad, demonstrating tactical discipline, ball control and engaging team play. Each match was a battle, with players doing their best in pursuit of victory.

The final confrontation that marked the apex of the Amazonian school’s campaign was against the powerful and well-structured team of Flamengo. An electrifying match, marked by calculated strategies and intensity in each move. Inter Academy won 1-0, with a decisive goal scored by the talented João Pedro. This result not only guaranteed the Under 13 category title, but also consolidated the strength and skill of the Amazonian team, representing the sporting strength of the “forest peoples” in Brazilian football.

And the achievements do not stop there. In addition to the title, Inter Academy guaranteed the opportunity to compete in the renowned IberCup in 2024 – Stage of Estoril in Portugal – with all expenses paid.

This award allows the team to broaden its horizons and face new international challenges, representing Amazonas and promoting the passion for football in a prestigious competition”, wrote Nedson.

Winning the IberCup Rio de Janeiro is a milestone in Inter Academy’s history, reflecting the hard work, unity and competitive spirit that permeates this talented team. It is an achievement that does justice to the commitment of the players, the coach and the entire coaching staff.

Campaign

The event was played by eight teams and divided into two keys of four clubs each.

The team from Amazonas debuted against CFA de Palmas and applied the rout by 3 to 0, with goals from Caíque, João Pedro and Nevyson. In the second round, the biggest defeat of the campaign, by 8 to 1, over Formando Campeones, from Chile. Nevyson scored four and took the ball home, Caíque twice and Ítalo also scored. In the third and final round, a 1-0 defeat by Flamengo and the classification came as second in group A.

In the knockout stage, the Amazonian team eliminated the kids from Goiás, from the Juventus team, by 1 to 0, with a goal by Caíque. The vacancy in the final was crowned and Flamengo was displaced as favorites in their domains, the barés returned the 1 to 0, knowing how to grow at the right moment of the competition.

The brilliant campaign of the mulecada jaraqui gave visibility to two players from the Inter Academy squad, defender Elber José and midfielder João Manoel, who were invited to participate in a period of evaluation and tests in Flamengo’s youth categories.
