DIALOGUE

At these meetings, the organization plans for the global mega event will be discussed and adjusted.

Manaus/AM – Manaus was selected to be one of the venues for technical meetings between the members that make up the G20 summit, led by Brazil from December 1st.

This will be the third time that a meeting of the group will be held in Latin America. In 2012, the city of San José del Cabo, Mexico, was the first. In 2018, the meeting was held in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The Group of 20 was created in 1999 in response to the financial crises of that decade, initially conceived as a forum for economic dialogue between finance ministers and central bank presidents. After the 2008 global financial crisis, heads of state and other ministers began to participate in the meetings. Chief ministers of central banks and other authorities in financial affairs from Brazil and 19 other countries will be present.

According to Serafim Corrêa, head of the State Secretariat for Economic Development, Science, Technology and Innovation (Sedecti), eight meetings are scheduled to take place in Manaus next year.

And there are expectations that the meetings will also result in improvements for the capital and Amazonas, especially in the Manaus Free Zone, which will gain more visibility in front of 20 global powers.
In addition to Manaus, the meetings will also take place in 17 other cities, including Brasília, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Belo Horizonte, Porto Alegre, Campinas, Salvador, Fortaleza, Teresina, Santarém, Belém, Maceió, Cuiabá, Recife and Foz do Iguaçu.
