Manaus (AM) — Throughout 2024, Brazil and the United States (USA) will host a series of joint initiatives, seminars, cultural and gastronomic events in celebration of the bicentenary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The National Commercial Learning Service — Senac Amazonas is part of these celebrations, in two nights of exchanging culinary experiences between regional chefs and Edith Johnson, chef de cuisine, who represents the indigenous gastronomic heritage of Alaska, the state where she was born. The public present will have the opportunity to interact and enjoy the experience.

On this occasion, the event is also part of the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of Fecomércio Amazonas, which over seven decades has been dedicated to defending the interests of Amazonian commerce before society and authorities, aiming to strengthen the commercial sector and its important contribution to Amazonas economy.

About Chef Johnson

From an early age, Johnson developed a passion for cooking that uses local foods. She graduated at the top of her class in culinary arts from the renowned L’ecole Culinaire in Saint Louis, Missouri, where she began her career.

Edith had the privilege of serving as the exclusive chef for the Saint Louis Cardinals baseball team during the 2011 World Series. Her culinary talent has also been recognized by other major baseball, football and football teams such as the Saint Louis Rams, the Springfield Cardinals and Kansas City Sporting.

Returning to her Alaskan roots, Edith settled in her hometown of Sitka and revolutionized the Fly in Fish Inn restaurant with a local, rotating, seasonal menu. Additionally, she reopened the Sitka Hotel Restaurant and Lounge, cementing her reputation as a visionary leader in the dining scene.
